Samson Rollins, Jr. transitioned at Piedmont Hospital the
afternoon of Saturday, January 11, 2025, at 2:08PM, was born
on June 2, 1946, in Burke County Georgia, and was the middle
child of the late Samson Rollins, Sr. and Mary Lizzie Rollins.
At an early age, he joined the St. Clair Missionary Baptist
Church, in Keysville, GA, where he served as an usher and
Junior Deacon.
Samson was educated in Burke County. He was a 1964,
graduate of the Waynesboro High and Industrial School.
He was employed as a transporter for Pan Am Airlines. Along
with other jobs, he worked tirelessly for more than 30 years.
Samp was known and loved by all. Whether he was “Pop” or
Uncle “Big Mane”, or Nig he was the life of the party. Wherever
his boys (Wiggy & Bug) were that’s where he wanted to be. His
daughter (Cat) was often called upon when there was a need for
any Straightening to be done!
Samson was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Vivian
Rollins, a brother, Issac Rollins, a sister, Lula R. Williams, and
an adoptive brother, Thomas Evans.
He leaves to cherish his memories a daughter, Cathy Smith,
Conyers, GA, two sons: Robert (Sharon) Reed, Tarek (Coutney)
Rollins all of Augusta, GA; 11 grandchildren: Tareka, Robert, Jr.
Shakeria, Xavier, Travion, Tamesha, Khadijah, Jacourey, Jaelah,
Brittney, and Corey; 21 great-grands; one sister, Dr. Betty (Mark)
Coleman, one brother, Curtis (Tara) Hannah all of Hephzibah,
GA; two sisters-in law: Maggie Rollins, Riverdale, GA and
Carolyn Smith, Augusta, GA; six brothers-in-law: Jimmy (Mary)
Smith, Bobby (Deborah) Kirkland, Ricky (Marcia) Kirkland, all of
Augusta, GA, Kenny Darlington, Waynesboro, GA, Gerard
Darlington, New York, Harold (Gwen) Kirkland, Dorchester, MA;
a host of nieces and nephews; two god-daughters: Chetarra
White, Brenda Steed, Augusta, GA; three god-sons: William
Rhodes, Byron Carter, and Nick Hewitt all of Augusta,
