James Willie Outlaw departed this life on 2 Dec 2024 at the age of 95 following a brief illness at
Piedmont Hospital, Augusta GA. with his son by his side. James was born on 1 Aug 1929 in Midville, GA.
He was the adopted son of Luther Outlaw and Eva Wilcher. The union of Luther and Eva produced two
brothers Dewey Outlaw, Sr, (deceased) Roy Outlaw (deceased) and four sisters, Lola Outlaw Scott
(deceased), Estell Outlaw Burgess (deceased), Idomia Outlaw Chambers (deceased), and Louise Outlaw
Cobb of Midville.
James completed his early education in the Burke County school system. He completed his high school
education at Boggs Academy, Keysville GA, where he was a proud graduate.
At an early age James accepted Christ as his Savior and was baptized at Clear Spring Baptist Church,
where he served faithfully for many years.
Drafted into the U.S. Army November 1950, James severed in South Korean where he earned the
Korean Service Medal and the United Nations Service Medal.
Completing military commitment James returned home and married the late Lurinda Williams and to
this union, they were blessed with one son (Timothy).
James moved to New York City in the 1960s seeking better employment opportunities and was
employed by Harlem Hospital as an inhalation technician and Macys Department Store until his
retirement.
Late in live God gave James special a gift. The gift to know his natural father and siblings. Father Cozy
Connon Sr. (deceased), brothers Cozy Jr. Connon (deceased), Harvey Connon (deceased), Dalfus Connon
(deceased), Delman (deceased), Kenneth (deceased), sisters Lana Jones (deceased), Aziza Muhammad
(deceased), Dorthy Wkefiled (deceased), Letha Coston, and Rosette Packwood all of Vauxhall New
Jersey.
James enjoyed life and lived each day to the fullness. He had a gift of dressing to impress which he did
each time you met him.
James leaves to cherish his memories one son: Timothy Outlaw (Bobbie) of Warner Robins, GA; 2
grandchildren, Derek (Nicole) of Kennesaw GA, Dena Outlaw of Marietta GA; 4 great grandchildren;
Dequinne Mangum of North Carolina, Alexis Outlaw of Atlanta, GA, Doran Outlaw, Langley, VA and
Danika Outlaw, Savannah GA; one brother-in-law, Rev. Samuel Williams, Savannah, GA; two sisters-in-
law Hattie Outlaw, Waynesboro, GA, and Naomi Miles, New York. He leaves to mourn his passing a host
of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
