James Henry was born to the late James “Thomas” and Ella M. Williams Henry, on October 9, 1943. The Lord called him home from “labor to reward” on Friday, August 21, 2020. James was raised in Waynesboro, Georgia and educated in the Burke County School System. At an early age, he was baptized at Neely Grove C.M.E. Church in Waynesboro. On September 11, 1963, James married Cecilia Jones, and two daughters were added to their union. In the late 1960s, James, along with his family, migrated north to Michigan and ultimately settled in Brooklyn, New York. He was employed with the Ford Motor Company, where he retired. In the 1990s, James and his wife returned to Waynesboro, Georgia. Always wanting to be engaged, he accepted several work positions throughout the Waynesboro community including with Sizemore Security, where he held the rank of Captain. James was a gifted singer and a fashionably man. He had a peaceful mannerism and a way of making everyone feel comfortable and secure. He mentored and helped family and friends through challenges and changed the room’s atmosphere (in a good way), whenever he showed up. James leaves to cherish his memory: his wife of fifty-seven years, Cecilia; three daughters, Sonya (David) Castro of Atlanta, GA, Sheila Lewis of Far Rockaway, NY, and Takisha (John) Jenkins Gamble of Queens, NY; six grandchildren, Michael Henry of Hepzibah, GA, Dionne Castro of Atlanta, GA, Genida Lewis of Tucson, AZ, Laszier Lewis of Brooklyn, NY, Destiny Henry of Far Rockaway, NY, and Xavier Gamble of Queens, NY; three great-granddaughters, Kyndal Hamilton of Atlanta, GA, Robyn Chung of Brooklyn, NY, and Legacy Johnson of Tucson, AZ; one sister, Betty J. Warren of Gough, GA; sister-in-law, Levada C. Jones of Waynesboro, GA; brother-in-law, Bobby Hilton of Far Rockaway, NY; two godchildren, Sabrina Preston and Agnes McCloud; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.. Chavous B.
