Mrs. Elizabeth Atwell, daughter of the late Fannie Jenkins and John “JB” Young, was born on August 14, 1943, in Gough, Georgia. At an early age, she accepted Christ and joined First Baptist Church in Gough, Georgia. She later moved to Augusta and changed her membership to True Tabernacle, where she was Mother of the Church until it closed. She then attended Word Alive Outreach Ministries until her health failed. She was married to Mr. Johnny Atwell, Sr. and to this union, three children were born. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Lanette Atwell. She leaves to cherish her memories: two sons, Johnny Atwell, Jr. of Augusta, GA and Allan Atwell; one brother, Lorenza Mullins of Waynesboro, GA; two sisters, Jereline (Frank) Scurry and Helen Miles, both of Waynesboro, GA; one granddaughter, Octavia Williams of Augusta, GA; two grandsons, Norman Atwell and Jamaal Striggles of Augusta, GA; one uncle, Charles (Minnie) Jenkins of Ft. Lauderdale, FL; one aunt, Ruby Jenkins of Ft. Lauderdale, FL; one great-aunt, Bobbie Gardner of Waynesboro, GA; nine great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
