CELEBRATION OF LIFE

Dennis Hilliard Sr., 71, of Augusta, Georgia, transitioned peacefully on Thursday,
September 4, 2025, at Wellstar MCG Health in Augusta, Georgia, alongside his beloved
wife. Dennis was born on July 11, 1954 to the late Anderson Hilliard Sr. and Gladys
Johnson Hilliard. He was the second child of thirteen children. He grew up in the
Hephzibah-McBean area and attended public schools of Richmond County, Georgia.
Later, he relocated to Augusta, Georgia. In 1976, he enlisted himself into the United
States Army. There he served for eight and a half years as an Administrative Specialist,
earning several medals with Honorary Discharge. Later, he received an associate’s
degree in Business Administration from Phillips Junior College in Augusta, Georgia. He
was employed at Savannah River Site for twenty-five years.
Minister Dennis Hilliard, was a dedicated member of Bibleway Church of Our
Lord Jesus Christ for almost five decades. He was baptized in Jesus name at an early
age after which he received the Mighty gift of the Holy Ghost. He was a committed
servant and faithful Minister of the clergy. He enjoyed serving the Lord at ALL times, “No
Matter What…” He read his bible daily and loved to eat home-cooked meals while
watching sports or westerns on television. Spending time with family was his joyous
moments. He most definitely achieved making his grandchildren feel special and loved.
In addition, he handled various home maintenance, repair, and small-scale duties
around the house. Furthermore, he was a devoted husband, father, brother, uncle,
grandfather, and mentor.
Dennis married the love of his life, Ella M. Hilliard, on April 24,1974. They
remained married for 51 years, until the day the Lord called him home. Unto this union,
five children were born. A’Shantae (Jonathan) Jones, Kendra Hilliard, Kesha
(Alexander) Martin III, Dennis Hilliard Jr., and Tiffany Burney; 12 grandchildren all of
Augusta, Georgia. Five sisters; Edna Hilliard, Diane Hilliard, Barbara Hilliard, Brenda
(Douglas) Fedrick of Augusta, Georgia; Janice Way of Newport News, VA; Four
brothers, Anderson Hilliard Jr., Arthur Hilliard, Michael Hilliard, and Tyrone Rainey of
Augusta, Georgia. Two sisters preceded in death; Emma Hilliard; Alberta (Robert)
Givens, and one brother preceded in death; Toney Rainey; One sister-in-law, Mae F.
Ruffin of Hephzibah, Georgia, and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
