Mrs. Albert Johnson Givens was born on August 10, 1951 to the late Nathaniel “Quebic” Brown
and Mildredge Weaver Johnson (aka Gladys Johnson Hilliard) in Burke County, Ga. Alberta
enjoyed spending time with her husband, kids, and grandkids. They were the love of her life
and will always be.
Alberta attended Burke County public schools where she met many friends. She enjoyed
cooking, listening to music, especially gospel music, and spending quality time with her family
and friends.
At an early age, she was baptized and became a member of McElmurray Spring Branch Baptist
Church, Waynesboro, GA. She was a member for over 50 years and faithfully served on the
Kitchen Ministry and was one of the lead singers in McElmurray’s Adult Choir. Alberta was an
humble and kind Christian who never uttered an unkind word about anyone. She loved God
AND she loved God’s people.
In 1971, Alberta met the love of her life, a hard-working family man, Robert “Doop” Givens.
They were married for 54 years and “in sickness and in health” he stood right by her side, until
her transition. From this union, came a beautiful daughter, Tracie and two step-daughters,
Shirley and Christine.
