Sis. Addie Bell McCoy was born on October 15, 1955, to the late Bro. Jessie McCoy, Sr., and Sis. Mary Liza McCoy in Girard, Georgia. She was the second eldest of nine children, four of whom preceded her in death: Marty Ray (1968), Jessie, Jr. (1983), Joseph (1998), and Jacob (2003). Also preceding her in death: her daughter, Patty Renee Rahney (2004), and granddaughter, Baby Chesi M. Bedford (2000). She received her education in the Screven County School System. At an early age, she confessed Christ as her personal Lord and Savior and joined St. Mary’s Baptist Church, where she served on the Usher Board. Sis. McCoy moved to Augusta, Georgia, where she sought public work. While residing in Richmond County, she became a member of Liberty Baptist Church, where she served on the Usher Board and taught Sunday School. She later became a member of Thankful Missionary Baptist Church by Christian experience, where she continued to be a servant of the Most-High. Sis. Addie, affectionately known to many as “Patty,” will be most remembered for her loving spirit and kind heart. On the afternoon of September 24, 2021, Sis. Addie was called home from labor to reward. “Well done, thy good and faithful servant.” (Matthew 25:23) She leaves to cherish her memory: daughter, Denise McCoy of Augusta, GA; son, Antonio (Stephanie) McCoy of Millen, GA; grandchildren, James, Quincy, Emanual, and Kaleb Bedford, and Tavis, Immanuel, and Ambreyona Hendrix; baby sister, Madelyn (Woulhounts) Brown of Sylvania, GA; brothers, Charles McCoy of Sylvania, GA, Roosevelt McCoy of Girard, GA, Farm (Dorothy) McCoy of Wichita, Kansas, and Jene (Retina) Dunbar; two uncles, Farm Bates of Lavista, NE and Charles Ellison of New Haven, CT; six great-grandchildren; one great-auntElla Roberts of Savannah, Ga; special friend, Sis. Janice Cody; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
